Scales
You can read specific gravity on in side scale and salinity in parts
per thousand (ppt) on outside scale.
Recommended specific gravity should be from 1.020 to 1.023 for most marine aquariums.
Drainage
When draining the seawater after measuremenet, please be careful
not to get the surrounding equipment and the floor wet.
Cleaning after use
Rinse with fresh water after every use to prevent salt deposit.
Details
How to use
①-1 In case of sampling from Top water intake
To reduce the adhesion of air bubbles, hold the grip and tilt the body as shown in the figure.
Keep the body on the surface till the excess water is drained from the lower water intake.
①-2 In case of sampling from Bottom water intake
Hold the grip as shown in the figure and sink the body until the water will be filled by Water level line.
It takes a few seconds longer than sampling from the top watar intake, but you can further reduce the adhesion of air bubbles by slowly drawing.
You can further reduce th eadhesion of air bubbles by tilting the body in the direction of the incoming water.
②measurement
After the water reaches the water level line in the figure, place it on a horizontal surface or hold it horizontally and check there are no air bubbles on the pointer.
And confirm that there are no air bubbles on the back or sides of the pointer, too.
Read the position of the pointer from right beside horizontally.
※ Air bubbles adhering to the pointer will result in inaccurate.
Shake the hydrometer softly or tap the pointer gently with a thin stick to remove air bubbles.
If too much air bubbles are adheried, dispose all waters and intake again.
Cautions in Use
- This Hydrometer is desingned to give temperature- corrected readings in 20-27℃.Please note the Specific gravity changes by water temperature.
- Air bubbles adhering to the pointer will result in inaccurate. The pointer is processed to avoid adhering air bubbles, however, it cannot avoid perfectly.
Shake the hydrometer softly or tap the pointer gently with a thin stick to remove air bubbles.
If too much air bubbles are adheried, dispose all waters and intake again. - Salt deposits that accumulate on pointer will result in in correct readings.Rinse with fresh water after every use to prevent salt deposit.
- Washing with detergent, hot water, vinegar, alkali, etc. may result in inaccurate measurements.・We cannot guarantee any illness or death of the lives, or the withering of seaweed when using this product.
